The General Secretary of the Ministry of Public Order Mr. Leonidas Evaggelidis, joined by Ministry officials, shall travel to Slovenia tomorrow to take part in the 5th Regional Ministerial Conference (Brdo, Slovenia, 28-10-05).
This Conference is organized by the Austrian and Slovenian Ministry of Home Affairs. Apart from Greece, the countries invited to attend are also Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, FYROM, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the United Kingdom as the country currently holding the presidency of the European Union.
The objective of this Conference is to enlarge the field of activity of the Regional Initiative beyond the theme of illegal immigration,so that it can also include issues related to organized crime, corruption and terrorism and therefore, enhance cooperation between all the countries.
Furthermore, a Joint Declaration by all countries shall be signed, presenting the results and the orientations of the Conference.
